Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns

New York — Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns led the New York Knicks to a crucial 111-94 win over the Indiana Pacers in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals. The victory, which took place Thursday night at Madison Square Garden, helped the Knicks avoid elimination and forced the series back to Indiana for Game 6.

Although the Pacers still lead the series 3-2, the Knicks showed new energy and control throughout the match. Their improved performance, especially in the first quarter, gave them momentum early.

Clutch Maxey, Sixers stay alive

Brunson Sets the Tone Early

Jalen Brunson started fast, scoring 14 points in the first quarter alone. He finished the game with 32 points, showing why he is vital to the Knicks’ offense. Alongside his scoring, Brunson’s defense was key in limiting the Pacers’ star guard, Tyrese Haliburton.

Brunson Leads with Fast Start and Strong Finish

Jalen Brunson came out aggressive and set the pace for New York. He hit his first three shots and scored 14 points in the opening quarter. By the end of the game, he had 32 points.

Moreover, Brunson’s defense stood out. After being outplayed in Game 4, he responded by slowing down Tyrese Haliburton, who had previously posted historic numbers. This time, Haliburton was limited to just 8 points and 6 assists. According to coach Tom Thibodeau, the defensive effort was a team-wide focus.

Towns Delivers Despite Injury

Karl-Anthony Towns also played a key role. Despite a left knee injury from Game 4, he scored 24 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. His effort in the paint helped control the Pacers’ fast-paced offense.

However, foul trouble forced Towns to sit out during the second half. In his place, Mitchell Robinson entered the game. Indiana then used a deliberate fouling strategy to send Robinson to the free-throw line, where he struggles. As a result, the Pacers cut the lead from 20 to 10 points.

Knicks Respond with Game-Changing Run

Despite the pressure, the Knicks kept their composure. With the crowd behind them, they answered with a 12-0 scoring run, rebuilding their lead and ending Indiana’s momentum. This run proved to be the turning point in the second half.

Unlike previous games, New York didn’t need a dramatic comeback. Instead, they led from start to finish and closed the game comfortably.

Focus Shifts to Game 6 in Indianapolis

After the game, Brunson said the team’s strong start was key.

“We came out with the right mindset and energy. I’m proud of how we responded,” Brunson said. “Now we have to bring that same intensity in Game 6.”

Game 6 will be played Saturday night in Indianapolis. If the Knicks win, the series will go to a decisive Game 7 back in New York.
